Radio I, side A, track 8: “Kiss Me Deadly” by Lita Ford

Oh, Lita Ford, you were a new breed of woman to my uninitiated ears.  You didn’t seem like the kind of woman who could be wooed with flowers and poetry.  In fact, I had a sneaking suspicion that if I did try to woo you in such a way that it would result in you punching me in the face.  And you gave me new insight into terms I’d heard before but that I was starting to realize might mean more than I thought they did.  For instance, I had a pretty good idea that “getting laid” was something I would like to try; the fact that you lamented that you didn’t last Saturday night confirmed that not “getting laid” was indeed a bad thing.  And “gettin’ high”. . .I’d heard that you could get high on life, but it didn’t sound like that’s what was going on with you.  And since you were doing it while drinking beer, beer being something I’d been led to believe was an evil elixir not to be ingested, well, I guess getting high on life wasn’t the only thing one could get high on.  It was all very intriguing.  Alas, I was pretty sure that I wasn’t the kind of guy who would be able to kiss you deadly and that if I asked you more about this getting laid and getting high business, you’d do some unpleasant things to me with your guitar.

“Kiss Me Deadly”

I went to a party last Saturday night
I didn’t get laid, I got in a fight
Uh, huh
It ain’t no big thing
Late for my job and the traffic was bad
Had to borrow ten bucks from my old man
Uh, huh
It ain’t no big thing
I went to a party last Saturday night
I told you that story, It’d be alright
Uh, huh
It ain’t no big thing

But I know what I like
I know I like dancin’ with you
And I know what you like
I know you like dancin’ with me
Yeah, yeah

Kiss me once
Kiss me twice
C’mon pretty baby, kiss me deadly

Had a few beers, gettin’ high
Sittin’, watchin’ the time go by
Uh, huh
It ain’t no big thing
Nothin’ to eat and no TV
Lookin’ in the mirror don’t get it for me
Uh, huh
It ain’t no big thing

But I know what I like
I know I like dancin’ with you
And I know what you like
I know you like dancin’ with me
Oh, yeah

Kiss me once
Kiss me twice
C’mon pretty baby, kiss me deadly

Kiss me once
Kiss me twice
C’mon pretty baby, kiss me deadly

You know I like dancin’ with you
Dancin’ with you
C’mon

Kiss me once
Kiss me twice
C’mon pretty baby, kiss me deadly

Kiss me once
Kiss me twice
C’mon pretty baby, kiss me
C’mon pretty baby, kiss me
C’mon pretty baby, kiss me deadly”
