Radio X, side A, track 8: “Sweet Little Mystery” by Wet Wet Wet

Oh, Wet Wet Wet, what’s more mysterious than love, right?  But luckily, this particular mystery is less like “Se7en” and more like something from The Hardy Boys (of which I read quite a few of their adventures, so I know of which I speak).  Actually, the Hardy Boys could get a little dark.  Maybe more something along the lines of The McGurk Detective Agency or Encyclopedia Brown.  The point is, Wet Wet Wet, this was a great song that really captured that whole first part of meeting a girl.  Well, maybe not even meeting them, but having a crush on them, maybe going out on a date, when all you know that they’re crazy cute and you love their laugh or the way they tuck their hair behind their ear or the sweet little sips they take of their tea.  When all you want to do is know everything about them and solve the mystery that is them.  And as we all know, Wet Wet Wet, you will never solve that mystery.  When it comes to the fairer sex, none of us are Encyclopedia Brown.

“Sweet Little Mystery”

Baby, baby, baby
Hey!

My love
Has taken a tumble
Ooo, but I’m
Still standin’
You’re such a natural
Sing
That’s what you are

Say I wouldn’t steer you wrong now, baby
I wouldn’t steer you wro-o-o-o-ong

It’s just that sweet
Little mystery
That makes me try
Try, try, try
It makes me try
Sweet
Little mystery
That makes me try
Try, try, try

Didn’t I come resistin’ this sight of wonder
Didn’t I come insistin’ the higher decision
Didn’t I come resistin’ this sight of wonder
To your life

Say I wouldn’t steer you wrong now, baby
I wouldn’t steer you wro-o-o-o-ong

It’s just that sweet
Little mystery
That makes me try
Try, try, try
Yeah, it’s just that sweet
Little mystery
That makes me try
Try, try, try
Sweet
Little mystery
That makes me try
Try, try, try
It make me try
Sweet
Little mystery
That makes me try
It makes me try, try, try
Oh, just think of the magic
Ooo-ooo
Don’t think it is tragic
Hey hey hey
Just think of the magic
Come on listen, my love
Has taken a tumble
My love
Has taken a tumble
My love
Has taken a tumble
But I’m
Still standing

<awesome Wet Wet Wet jam>

Woo-oo

Only
Only
Only
Only
Only
Only love me like ya used to do, ooo ooo
Just that sweet
Little mystery
That makes me try
Try, try, try
Come on listen, yeah
Try, try, try
Try, try, try
Try, try, try
Try, try, try
Try, try, try

You will not believe this but I was just singing this song outside like half an hour ago!!! I LOVE the album ‘Popped in, Souled Out’. WWW are from Clydebank, Glasgow, Scotland. This whole album is my childhood. I was singing outside because my man and I are trying to think up a song for our first dance at our wedding… GREAT track. Cheese-tastic!
