Radio XVI, side A, track 14: “Bad Medicine” by Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi - Bad MedicineOh, Bon Jovi, three months seems too long to wait for this song to be featured again, but I’m playing these songs in the order they were on my tapes, and so that’s how it has to be.  In fact, I think you should give me some credit for my self-control, Bon Jovi, because I waited four whole tapes before I recorded this one again.  And they played this one a lot.  So it was a challenge for me every time I heard that opening to not just go ahead and push Play/Record and just record this song every time it played on the radio.  Ya know, Bon Jovi, that’s not the worst idea in the world.  Just as an experiment, you know?  Just have one tape of just “Bad Medicine” recorded again and again, each time it got airplay.  Just to see how many times I actually heard it on the radio.  Wouldn’t that have been something, Bon Jovi, if instead of the tapes I have from my radio-taping days, I instead had 70 tapes of just “Bad Medicine” recorded over and over?  It wouldn’t be creepy at all.  Especially if after making 70 tapes, I then turned around and converted all 70 tapes to MP3s and started a blog, called “Bad Medicine”, of course, where every day I played “Bad Medicine” and talked about the reason I taped it THAT time.  No, not creepy at all.  I guess this will just be one of my life’s great regrets. . .

“Bad Medicine”

Your love is like bad medicine
Bad medicine is what I need
Whoa oh oh
Shake it up just like bad medicine
There ain’t no doctor that can cure my disease

Bad medicine
I ain’t got a fever, got a permanent disease and it’ll take more than a doctor to prescribe a remedy
I got lots’a money but it isn’t what I need
Gonna take more than a shot to get this poison outta me
Yeah, I got all the symptoms, count ‘em, one, two, three
First ya need (That’s what you get for fallin’ in love)
Then you bleed (You get a little and it’s never enough)
And when you’re on your knees (That’s what you get for fallin’ in love)
Now this boy’s addicted ’cause your kiss is the drug
Whoa oh oh
Your love is like bad medicine
Bad medicine is what I need
Whoa oh oh
Shake it up just like bad medicine
There ain’t no doctor that can cure my disease
Baaad, baaad medicine

I don’t need no needle to be givin’ me a thrill and I don’t need no anesthesia or a nurse to bring a pill
I got a dirty down addiction
That doesn’t leave a track
I got a jolt for your affection like a monkey on my back
There ain’t no paramedic gonna save this heart attack
When ya need (That’s what you get for fallin’ in love)
Then you bleed (You get a little and it’s never enough)
And when you’re on your knees (That’s what you get for fallin’ in love)
Now this boy’s addicted ’cause your kiss is the drug
Whoa oh oh
Your love is like bad medicine
Bad medicine is what I need
Whoa oh oh
Shake it up just like bad medicine
So let’s play doctor, baby, cure my disease
Baaad, baaad medicine
Is what I want
Baaad, baaad medicine
Ow! It’s what I need

<awesome Bon Jovi jam>

I need a respirator ’cause I’m runnin’ outta breath
Well, you’re an all-night generator wrapped in stockings and a dress
When ya find your medicine, you’ll take what you can get
‘Cause if there’s something better, baby, well they haven’t found it yet
Whoa oh oh
Your love is like bad medicine
Bad medicine is what I need
Whoa oh oh
Shake it up just like bad medicine
There ain’t no doctor that can cure my disease

Your love
Bad medicine
Bad medicine is what I need
Whoa oh oh
