Oh, Tracy Chapman, I just realized that I love you. Maybe there’s some irony there, considering the lyrics of this song, but hear me out. Normally, I don’t spend much time checking out the musicians’ websites; I just make sure they work so that people can click on over and see what they’ve been up to. But oh, Tracy Chapman, when I clicked over to your website, I was in a whole new world. I don’t know if you designed it or what, but it’s kinda the most beautiful and perfectly suited website I’ve yet to find. And it lets you color things. Not only that, it’s got your lovely music playing over top the whole thing, which just makes it that much more perfect.
I’ll be honest with you, Tracy Chapman, up until right now I respected you but didn’t wholly fall in love with your music. Maybe it’s because “Fast Car” got over-played on the radio throughout the years, which is certainly not your fault and hey, good for you. But listening to this song again after so many years, and hearing your other songs at your website, let me say all the words I couldn’t say. Like forgive me. And I’m sorry. And I love you.
“Baby Can I Hold You”
Sorry
Is all that you can’t say
Years gone by and still
Words don’t come easily
Like sorry, like sorry
Forgive me
Is all that you can’t say
Years gone by and still
Words don’t come easily
Like forgive me
Forgive me
But you can say baby
Baby can I hold you tonight
Maybe if I told you the right words
Ooo at the right time
You’d be mine
I love you
Is all that you can’t say
Years gone by and still
Words don’t come easily
Like I love you, I love you
But you can say baby
Baby can I hold you tonight
Maybe if I told you the right words
Ooo at the right time
You’d be mine
Baby can I hold you tonight
Maybe if I told you the right words
Ooo at the right time
You’d be mine
You’d be mine
You’d be mine
