Radio XX, side B, track 6: “Nothin’ But A Good Time” by Poison, #72 on The Top 88 of ’88

Poison - Nothin' But a Good TimeOh, Poison, clearly I have a special place in my heart for all the songs that I was able to record on my tapes, but there’s an even more special place in my heart for the songs that were some of the very first for me to record.  Ya see, Poison, as my tape collection grew, from time to time I would get it into my head that I would listen to my tapes in the order that they were recorded.  It was probably one of the laziest “projects” in the world.  It wasn’t like I was going to record my thoughts on them or anything, I was just going to listen to them.  And I would always start with the first tape, so yours was always one of the first songs I would listen to.  I don’t know how many times I restarted that particular little project, Poison, (for whatever reason I would only get through so many tapes and then get distracted by something, most likely one girl or another) but I do know that I can pretty much tell you by heart what the DJs were saying before and after each of the songs that were on Radio I.  Now, finally, thanks to the magic of technology, I’m actually revisiting all my tapes and it’s a “project” that I’ll hopefully see all the way to the end.  Hopefully I’ve more work ethic than you guys do, since you’re just interested in nothin’ but a good time. . .

“Nothin’ But A Good Time”

Woo!

Oo yeah

ha ha ha

Oooo yow!

Woo!

ha ha ha
Yeah

Now listen

Not a dime, I can’t pay my rent
I can barely make it through the week

Saturday night I’d like ta make my girl though right now I can’t make ends meet, no

I’m always workin’, slavin’ every day
Gotta get a break from the same-old same-old
I need a chance just to get away
If you could hear me think
This is what I’d say

Don’t need nothin’
But a good time

How can I resist
Ain’t lookin’ for nothin’
But a good time
And it don’t get better than this

Say I spend my money on women and wine
But I couldn’t tell you where I spent last night

I’m real sorry ’bout the shape I’m in
I just like my fun every
Now and then

I’m always workin’, slavin’ every day
Gotta get a break from the same-old same-old
I need a chance just to get away
If you could hear me think
This is what I’d say

Don’t need nothin’
But a good time

How can I resist
Ain’t lookin’ for nothin’
But a good time
And it don’t get better than this

Ya see I
I raise a toast to all of us
Who are breakin’ our backs every day

If wantin’ the good life is such a crime

Lord, then put me away, yeah
Here’s to ya

<awesome Poison jam>

Don’t need nothin’
But a good time

How can I resist
Ain’t lookin’ for nothin’
But a good time
And it don’t get better than this

Don’t need nothin’
But a good time

How can I resist
Ain’t lookin’ for nothin’
But a good time
And it don’t get better than this

Don’t get better, baby
