Oh, Living In A Box, if the Big Bad Wolf had heard this song, those Three Little Pigs would have been toast. Don’t get me wrong, Living In A Box, I don’t mean those pigs any ill will, but I never really liked them. All three of them were pretty smug in their own way. The first two pigs with their houses of straw and twigs were pretty condescending of the third pig’s brick house, and that third pig’s self-assuredness is actually a little annoying, too. And all three of them were pretty damn cocky when they were all in that brick house while the wolf’s trying to get in. It might be better to call them the Three Little Prigs.
Maybe it says something about me, but I always felt a little bad for that wolf, huffing and puffing and puffing and huffing while those pigs giggled at him from the comfort of a home that only one of them built. And when it comes down to it, that wolf was only doing what wolves do. And maybe those pigs might be a little more reserved if they knew how much of a resurgence bacon has made in this country. One of my co-workers, a vegetarian like myself, still loves bacon so much that he’ll order a veggie burger with bacon on it and call it a Hypocrite, as in “I’ll have the veggie burger, and make it a Hypocrite.” So you can laugh all you want at that wolf, pigs, but humans have bulldozers and wrecking balls.
I’ll tell you this, though, Living In A Box: if that wolf had had access to a boom box and my cassette tapes, and had he hunted in a pack like any self-respecting wolf would have actually done, I guarantee you that this amazing anthem of yours would have given Big Bad and his lupine brothers and sisters the impetus they needed to make brick-oven baked pork.
“Blow The House Down”
<awesome Living In A Box jam>
All alone
In the crowd
Tryin’ not ta think out loud
Whispers shout
Whispers scream
Together we can make it a dreeeam
Mountains high
Mountains low
Without a bridge
You miiind how you know
And whatchoo need
Is what I want
So don’t be afraid, let it shooow
Don’t be afraaaaid
Just let it exploooode
We have got the power to build the highest tower
Standing with our feet on the ground
We’ve got what it takes
Together we can make it
Together we can blow the house down
Blow the hooouse doown (ooo ooo ooo)
Blow the hooouse dooown, yeeah
Blow the hooouse doown (ooo ooo ooo)
Blow the hoooooooouse
Blow the house down
Silent words
In your eyes
Hiding in a lover’s disguise
And as my heart
Steals your mind
Together we’ll be partners in crime
Deserts dry
Dooonchoo know
Without the water
No river flows
And whatchoo need
Is what I want
So don’t be afraid, let it shooow
Don’t be afraaaaid
Just let it exploooode
We have got the power to build the highest tower
Standing with our feet on the ground
We’ve got what it takes
Together we can make it
Together we can blow the house down
Blow the hooouse doown (ooo ooo ooo)
Blow the hooouse dooown, yeeah
Blow the hooouse doown (ooo ooo ooo)
Blow the hoooooooouse
Blow the house
Down
<awesome Living In A Box jam>
Mountains high
Mountains low
Without a bridge
You miiind how you know
And whatchoo want
Is what I need
So don’t be afraid, let it shooow
Don’t be afraaaaid
Just let it exploooode
Ooohhh!
We have got the power to build the highest tower
Standing with our feet on the ground
We’ve got what it takes
Together we can make it
Together we can blow the house down
Blow the hooouse doown (we have got the power to build the highest tower)
(Standing with our feet on the ground)
(We’ve got what it takes)
(Together we can make it)
(Together we can blow the house down)
Blow the hooouse doown (ooo ooo ooo)
Blow the hooouse dooown, yeeah
Blow the hooouse doown (ooo ooo ooo)
Blow the hoooooooouse
