Radio XLII, side B, track 6: “Forget Me Not” by Bad English

Bad English - Forget Me NotOh, Bad English, I don’t know that I necessarily remember this song outright, but I do remember you guys as a band, and I’m excited that we’ve entered the Bad English era of my radio tapes.  You guys made one of the songs that I listened to on repeat during my freshman year of college, but we’ll talk about that particular tune when it rears its wonderful head on my track list.  This song wasn’t as impactful to me as some of your other tunes, but it’s still a solid song.  As a band, you guys have always been like Bad Company and 38 Special to me.  The majority of your songs weren’t totally amazing, but all of them were good, solid rock songs.  I never planned on being blown away by your stuff, but I knew that I’d always be in for a good tune.  What I like about this one is that the lyrics themselves are like hard rock Gothic or something.  Or like if Dracula started his own hard rock band (not counting The Crypt Kicker Five, that is).  Your great rock sound kinda misdirects you from the fact that this song is actually kinda creepy.  Also kinda hot.  Which is always a weird combination.  Well, at least it seems like a weird combination to me.  I’ve never been a chains and candle wax kinda guy.  My tastes run pretty vanilla.  Which seems ironic, because I feel like you guys play some pretty vanilla rock.  Which, as I’ve mentioned before, is a compliment.  I just can’t picture the kind of people who have whips and safe words popping in a Bad English CD before they get down to business.  But then again, I’ve never really done that kind of thing, so how would I know, right?  Anyway, this post took a weird turn somewhere when I really just wanted to tell you that I think you guys are great and I can’t wait to hear more of your stuff on here, whether it’s creepy, vanilla, or other.

“Forget Me Not”

<awesome Bad English jam>

You leave the light on atcho door

You cross your heart across the
Beeeedroooom floor

And through the window to your world

You can feel me there

And you know I’m waiting

You taste the words of my forbidden kiss

Our eyes connect
And we boooth knooow what thiiis is

I will be your keeper
You possess the key
Forget me not
Forget me not
‘Cause you belong ta me, yeah

I will be your shadow

When ya walk away
Forget me not
Forget me not

I will follow you
Until your
Dyyyin’ daaaaaay

Oh yeah

Oh

A thousand lifetimes long ago

We made a promise
We would not let go

And so I come for you tonight

And we live again
Before we lose each other

I climb a stairway to the open sky

You are my universe
I won’t be denied, no

I will be your keeper
You possess the key
Forget me not
Forget me not
‘Cause you belong to me

I will be your shadow
When you walk away
Forget me not
Forget me not

I will follow you
Until your dyyyyin’ dayyy, yeah

Ohhh yeah

When I touch you
You will be touched by love by love by love by love

<awesome Bad English jam>

I climb the stairway
To your world

You can feel me there
And ya know I’m waiting

I will be your keeper
You possess the key
Forget me not
Forget me not
‘Cause you belong to me

I will be your shadow
