Radio XLV, side B, track 2: “Tune Twist”

Tangier - Four WindsOh, Vic St. John, puh-lease.  Give us a Tune Twist that’s an actual challenge, why don’t you?  Of course, I can say that because I had the forethought of recording not just the Tune Twist challenge but also the results, so it’s easy to say I could have figured it out since I have the answer key.  But still, I’m pretty sure I would have gotten all three of those songs correctly, since I’d recorded them all and had listened to them repeatedly (although I did just realize that we haven’t actually gotten to “Glamour Boys” yet, but I’m pretty confident I’d already heard it when I’d recorded this Tune Twist).  I’ll tell you what I WOULDN’T have gotten right.  If you’d played a song by Tangier.  I have absolutely no recollection of them at all, and judging by the girl’s reaction on this track, pretty sure she didn’t know who they were, either.  Luckily, now we have Wikipedia so I know that they really did exist, and there’s also YouTube, so if Lisa Hollister would have just been patient and waited a couple decades, she wouldn’t have had to call in to the radio station to play a game to win the “Four Winds” album, she could have just read this blog and thanked TheManWhoWatchesYou who was kind enough to put the whole album online for free.  But she’ll know for next time.

Lovely read! I have just shared some thoughts on Serge Gainsbourg’s La Noyée and have translated its lyrics into English. You may want to give it a read : )

  2. […] from you guys again!  We got a little taste of this song when Vic St. John featured you in his “Tune Twist” a few tapes ago, so it’s great that we finally get to listen to the whole thing.  I remember […]

I totally have an opinion on this!
