Radio 64, side B, track 2: “Tonight” by New Kids On The Block

NKOTB - TonightOh, New Kids On The Block, this one’s my favorite of your songs.  I don’t know why, but it is.  I think it’s just the way you sing “tonight”.  Maybe it’s the echo they added to it or something, but I really enjoy me this song.  And it’s a nice little nod to your many devoted fans, as evidenced on this track by the DJ begging us to stop calling him and requesting an NKOTB song.  One lyric did pop out to me as a bit strange:  “We met a lot of people and girls.”  Living with a wife who is quick to point out anything anti-woman to me, I’m assuming she would be very unhappy with this line since one could imply that this is saying that girls aren’t people.  Which of course isn’t true.  But then again, having seen footage of girls at your concerts and the women they became who participated in your ocean cruises, their reactions to you are not human.  I would liken it to when apes go. . .well, when apes go apeshit, frankly.  But I don’t mean that as a bad thing, New Kids On The Block.  You do have that effect on people.  I’m not going to say if I’m one of them or not.
