Oh, Mr. Mister, you had one of the best names for a band ever. You sounded like you were some spy from some surreal spy story in a land taken from some TV show like “The Prisoner” or something. And I loved this song so much, mostly because I misheard the lyrics. You see, I thought that the main lyrics of this song were “Carry a laser”. I thought you were singing a song about some astronaut or alien being who was stranded on some desolate planet where all they have as they’re traveling through this abandoned world is their trusty laser gun. It makes sense: “Carry a laser down the road that I must travel. Carry a laser through the darkness of the night.” That’s good advice for any space traveler lost in the wilderness of some ancient world. Not surprisingly, I was wrong about the words that I heard coming out of my radio, but you know what, Mr. Mister. No matter how many times I listen to this awesome song, I’ll always be thinking of some cool mod space traveler from the ’60s walking down an alien highway with a really cool-looking laser gun and trying to find his way home. And his name is Mr. Mister.
“Kyrie”
Kyrie, eleison
Kyrie, eleison
Kyrie
The wind blows hard against this mountainside
Across the sea into my soul
It reaches into where I cannot hide
Setting my feet upon the road
My heart is old, it holds my memories
My body burns a gem-like flame
Somewhere between the soul and soft machine
Is where I find myself again
Kyrie, eleison, down the road that I must travel
Kyrie, eleison, through the darkness of the night
Kyrie, eleison, where I’m going, will you follow
Kyrie, eleison, on a highway in the light
Whoa!
When I was young I thought of growing old
Of what my life Would mean to me
Would I have followed down my chosen road
Or only wished what I could be
Kyrie, eleison, down the road that I must travel
Kyrie, eleison, through the darkness of the night
Kyrie, eleison, where I’m going, will you follow
Kyrie, eleison, on a highway in the light
Whoa oh ohhh
Whoa oh ohhh
Whoa oh ohhh
Whoa oh ohhh
Kyrie, eleison, down the road that I must travel
Kyrie, eleison, through the darkness of the night
Kyrie, eleison, where I’m going, will you follow
Kyrie, eleison, on a highway in the light
Kyrie, eleison, down the road that I must travel
Kyrie, eleison, through the darkness of the night
Kyrie, eleison, where I’m going, will you follow
Kyrie, eleison, on a highway in the light
Kyrie, eleison, down the road that I must travel
Kyrie, eleison, through the darkness of the night
Kyrie, eleison, where I’m going, will you follow
Kyrie, eleison, on a highway in the light
