Oh, Dead Or Alive, there’s a line in this song that I think sums you and me both up pretty well: “I’m not like the other boys.” I think anyone who knew me back in the day would totally agree with that. Mainly because I was probably the only person in a twenty-mile radius who was listening to Dead Or Alive, Dead Or Alive. I friggin’ loved this song. Didn’t know any of the words, as per usual, since I originally thought that the name of this song was “Sheer Immensity”. But I’ve loved this song since the first time I heard it on one of the best hours of the Hot New Music Hour that I was lucky enough to record.
Ever since I started this blog, listening to all the different genres that I recorded off the radio when I was a kid, it makes me think about what I would have been like if I’d been born somewhere else besides the middle of nowhere. It’s pretty clear to me that I was very much drawn to club music. At this point, the idea of dancing to awesome songs like this one in a crowded, sweaty club sounds absolutely horrifying to me. But I wonder what I would have been like had I been a city kid. Would I have been hanging out at techno clubs or hard rock clubs or heavy metal clubs? Right now, at this moment, having listened to this amazingly sadly romantic song after so many years, totally would’a been wherever they were playing this song, Dead Or Alive.
“Baby Don’t Say Goodbye”
<awesome Dead Or Alive jam>
I guess you couldn’t face
The heavy responsibility of looking at my face
And knowin’ you could neveer lie to me
Bad dreams can come true
I woke up this morning and I knew I was losing yoooou
Breaking hearts never make a noise
If they did it would be a sad sound, I’m not like the other boys
I refuse ta stay here and be clowned around with, your love caused pain
And if I had the chance, I’d do it all agaaaain
Ah ah, baby, don’t say goodbye, the
Word is out that we’ll soon be parted
Out of sight isn’t out of mind so spare a thought f’meeee
Ah ah, baby, don’t say goodbye, please
Spare a thought for the broken-hearted
My love, baby, it blew yo mind, some things are meant to be (you were meant fo me)
Your love caused paaain
And if I had the chance, I’d take you back agaaaain
Black leather roses wrapped in chain
You gave romantically a jacket studded with yo name
These things I keep eternally
Bad dreams can come truuuue
I woke up this morning and I knew I was losing yoooou
Ah ah, baby, don’t say goodbye, the
Word is out that we’ll soon be parted
Out of sight isn’t out of mind so spare a thought f’meeee
Ah ah, baby, don’t say goodbye, please
Spare a thought for the broken-hearted
My love, baby, it blew yo mind, some things are meant to be (you were meant fo me)

I’ve been to New York, Paris, and the south of Spain and I’ll never find a lover like you again
I hear a Four Tops record on the radio, and the words remind me, I miss
You
Your love caused paaain
And if I had the chance, I’d do it all agaaain
