Oh, Peter Gabriel, give me a break with this song. Seriously, how friggin’ amazing is this song? Obviously this song is forever intertwined with “Say Anything”, which, amazingly, I don’t think I saw until I was like in college or something. Don’t know how I missed the boat on that one, Peter Gabriel. Had I watched it as a kid, I’m sure I would have then watched it 1000 more times. But I didn’t, and so there’s not quite the same nostalgic rush when I think about it as there should be. Frankly, Peter Gabriel, I was going to write something snarky here about how John Cusack and his friend Jeremy Piven seem like and/or are ridiculously gigantic douchebags, but that’s how amazing this song is, Peter Gabriel. Lloyd Dobbler standing with that boombox over his head and this song are too iconic and evoke too many feelings of adolescent longing to let any of that negativity in. Plus, this is a song about Rosanna Arquette? She does have pretty amazing eyes, Peter Gabriel, good call.
