Oh, Whitney Houston, as I’ve mentioned before, the Olympics don’t do much for me. But I respect that other people enjoy them (mostly because my wife gets very obsessed with the Olympics, so really, do I have a choice, Whitney Houston?). Despite my lack of interest in the Olympics overall, though, much credit goes to whoever decided to have you sing the “theme song” for the 1988 Olympics. Until then, I didn’t know that the Olympics needed a theme song, but after hearing this song I understood. Oh, Whitney Houston, you were such an amazing singer. When you sing “When I’m racing with destiny” and just the way you hit “destiny” with that effortlessly beautiful voice of yours. . .it breaks my heart every time I listen to your music now, Whitney Houston, because we really did lose a national treasure. Also, how is this song not the theme song to EVERY Olympics? Just another reason I don’t have much love for the Olympics.
“One Moment In Time”
Each day I live
I want to be
A day to give
The best of me
I’m only one
But not alone
My finest day
Is yet unknown
I broke my heart
For every gain
To taste the sweet
I face the pain
I rise and fall
Yet through it all
This much remains
I want one moment in time
When I’m more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I’m racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel
I will feel
Eternity
Mmmmm
I’ve lived ta be
The very best
I want it all
No time for less
I’ve laid the plans
Now lay the chance
Here in my hands
Give me one moment in time
When I’m more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I’m racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel
I will feel
Eternityyy, oh!
You’re a winner
For a lifetime
If you seize that one moment in time
Make it shine
Give me one moment in time
When I’m more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I’m racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will be
Oh, I will be
Oh, I will be freeeeeeeeeeeeee, oh!
Oh, I will be
I will be
Freeeeeeeeeeeee
