Radio 71, side A, track 6: “Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie

Oh, Queen and David Bowie, I was telling my wife just the other day how I’ve been re-invigorated writing about these “new” songs, and here’s a great reason why.  I’d recorded a few songs of Mr. Bowie’s, and only one by Queen (which is craaazy), but now I had the chance to record songs from all time and space, just like Doctor Who.  If Doctor Who was only interested in recording music off the radio and was not able to record music from the future.

Anyway, this new era of radio recording was allowing me to get re-acquainted, or in this case, just acquainted, with songs I hadn’t really listened to a lot before.  Sadly, the first time I heard this one, and I don’t know when, but later than it should have been, my initial thought was “Hey, this is from ‘Ice Ice Baby’!”

I know, I know.  Sacrilege.  Totally agree with you, Queen and David Bowie.  And I’m not knocking “Ice Ice Baby”.  I loved the hell out of it.  But my god this song is amazing.  I have a feeling I’ll be writing that a lot in the next years, especially when songs by y’all show up on my track list, and I can’t tell you how excited I am for that to happen.
