Oh, Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine, what were we JUST talking about? Don’t be telling anyone that you’d do anything for them. That just opens up a door for a whole lot of trouble. After all, this is a person who broke up with GLORIA ESTEFAN, Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine. Obviously they already have impaired judgement. So then you go and tell him you’d do anything for him even though he tossed you aside like so much trash along a Miami side street? No way. Homie don’t play that.
Don’t get me wrong, Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine, this song is heart-breakingly good. So heart-breakingly good that it’s almost worth it that you had your heart broken so that this song could be created. But I can guarantee you that whoever you’re singing this to has no intention of getting back with you, ESPECIALLY after hearing this song. To quote an oft-told parental warning to girls everywhere, why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? And there’s “free milk” written all over this song. Oh, sure, he’ll TOTALLY come to you when he needs a “friend” to “turn to”. But we all know how he’s interpreting “turn to”, Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine.
Look, you’re way better than this guy. I don’t care WHAT this guy taught you; even if it was how to sing so beautifully, it’s not worth the heartache you’re clearly going through. If you really want to make this guy sit up and take notice, you find yourself a good guy who’ll treat you right, and you write a song about THAT guy and how you’re glad you had your heart broken because if you hadn’t you wouldn’t have met your soulmate. Once this schmuck hears that, HE’S going to be the one telling you he’ll do anything for YOU, Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine. But don’t you believe him.
