Radio XVII, side B, track 9: “Devil With A Blue Dress On/Good Golly, Miss Molly” by Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels

Oh, Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels - Devil With A Blue Dress OnMitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, this is what rock and roll is all about!  EVERY time I hear it, at minimum I have to shake my butt in my chair, if not actually get on my feet and start going crazy right along with you.  As soon as that raspy voice cries out “HEEEEEEEEEYYYYY!”, how can you NOT want to rock out to this song?  I enjoy a song that celebrates a particular woman, and the majority of them in my experience tend to be slower, more subdued ballads.  But there is something so great about a song like this where this woman is so amazingly attractive that you can’t help but scream and shout.  It’s the rock and roll version of the wolf howl, which is probably sexist in this day and age, I suppose, but let me tell ya, Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, if someone wanted to sing a song like this about me, maybe title it “Fat Guy In A Little Coat” or something, I would be extremely flattered.

“Devil With A Blue Dress On/Good Golly Miss Molly”

Got her high-heel shoes and a alligator hat
Wearin’ her pearls and her diamond rings

Hey, wearin’ her perfume, Chanel No. 5
Got to be the finest girl alive
She walks real cool, catches everybody’s eye
