Radio 66, side A, track 3: “Can’t Be Sure” by The Sundays

The Sundays - Can't Be SureOh, The Sundays, why the hell haven’t I been listening to your music all this time?  I can’t be sure (see what I did there?), but there is no excuse for not being a fan of yours for the rest of my life after just listening to this one song.  The craziest thing is that I actually own one of your CDs.  I bought “Blind” when I was a freshman in college based on a recommendation from a friend, and to this day I don’t know that I’ve listened to the CD all the way through.  And I don’t know why, The Sundays.  Your music is incredible.  I guarantee that when I bought that CD, probably at The Electric Fetus, that I totally didn’t remember that I’d recorded this song off the radio, because when this track came up, my first reaction was “Oh, snap, I have one of y’all’s CDs and I’d already recorded this off the radio!  Totally did not realize that!”  I’m just baffled as to why I missed the boat on you, The Sundays.  The unique lead vocals alone are exactly what I’m into.  How did I not fall in love with that voice immediately?  Maybe I did, but then let my attention stray.  It was a pretty common issue for me as a teen.  And as an adult.  So I hope you’ll forgive me that I’ve let your music go by unappreciated for so long, The Sundays, but I promise I’m going to listen to that CD all the way through any day now.
