Radio 58, side A, track 4: “All My Life” by Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville

Oh, Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville, is it too late to make a federal holiday called “Linda and Aaron Day”?  Please?  Between this song and the last one I recorded off the radio, it’s reminded me of how beautiful your voices are.  Now, I know that there would be a lot of people who would think such a holiday is frivolous, and maybe they’d be right.  And I’m willing to concede that we don’t need to close federal offices for the day or give people time off work.  It would be business as usual except everyone would have to listen to your music all day.  Think what a beautifully mellow day that would be.  Imagine New York City, with your magnificent voices intertwining and rising into the air, drowning out the hustle and bustle.  Think of how nice it would be on the assembly lines and in the cubicles and in the offices as everyone went about their business, but with your voices as their soundtrack for the day.  Crime rates would fall.  Hate would fade.  Peace and love would reign for the day.  Now that I’m writing this, I’m thinking it’s our civic duty to make this happen.  And hell, Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville, if we’re going to do that, let’s go all the way and have y’all run for office.  I don’t care which one of you is president and which one vice-president, I’m pretty sure I’d rather have both of you in office than most of those currently running.  You could both sing during the oath of office.  It would be amazing.  And I’m happy to be your campaign manager.  So think about it and maybe give me a call this week so we can get this thing going.
