Radio 83, side B, track 12: “Limelight” by Rush

Oh, Rush, so it’s been a few years since one of your songs has been on here.  And as I mentioned before, one of my college roommates really put me off your music because of his ridiculous obsession with you.  So I’m approaching y’all with caution.  And I’ll be honest, I was about to get all snarky with you about this song lamenting being in the limelight, and maybe even get derisive about Neil Peart for writing it, mostly because I was SOOO sick of hearing how amazing Neil Peart was during my freshman year of college.  But there was a video included with the lyrics on this one where they were interviewing Neil about this song and now I get it, Rush.  I don’t know what the rest of y’all are like, but Neil’s just a big ol’ music nerd.  I had no idea what he was talking about, but it was clear that he loves to drum and that’s likely all he loves to do and having to put up with fame (which for an introvert sounds like its own unique hell) to do what he loves is the price to pay for getting to be able to afford the most gigantic drumset in the world.  I’m all for nerds, Rush, regardless of their specialty.  I’m not completely sold on y’all yet, but I think we’re heading in the right direction.
