Oh, The Jets, so good to see you on the countdown again, and this time with a song that’s near and dear to my heart, for the simple fact it was the first song on only the second tape that I recorded off the radio. Well, it’s not just that simple fact, The Jets. It’s also the simple fact that this song is simply wonderful. I’ve bemoaned this fact before and I’m sure I’ll bemoan it again, but remember the days when singers were able to hold one long beautiful note without running up and down the entire scale? Well, I’m sure YOU do, The Jets, because this is a great example of how wonderful a fairly simple, straightforward love song can be. This one’s beautiful, and I’m glad that the radio gods saw fit to include you in the best of 1988, because indeed you were.
“Make It Real”
Tonight
It’s been a year
We met each other here
Here I am
All alone
As thoughts of you go on
Hear me cryin’ out to you
You said, “Never, never
Would I leave”
Here’s a tear from me to you
And maybe it will
Make you hear me
I loved you
You didn’t feel the same
Though we’re apart
You’re in my heart
Give me one more chance to
Make it
Reeeal
In a dream
You are here
You smile and hold me near
And in my heart
I’ll pretend
That you are here again
Hear me cryin’ out to you
You said, “Never, never
Would I leave”
Here’s a tear from me to you
And maybe it will
Make you hear me
I loved you
You didn’t feel the same
Though we’re apart
You’re in my heart
Give me one more chance to
Make it
Reeeeeal
<awesome The Jets jam>
I loved you
You didn’t feel the same
Though we’re apart
You’re in my heart
Give me one more chance to
Make it
Reeeeeeeeeal
Give me one more chance to
Make it
Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal
