Radio XLVII, side A, track 10: “Still In Love” by Stage Dolls

Oh, Stage Dolls, I think your best course of action is to just not say anything.  This song is great, and I’m glad I was able to record it, but you are sending some super mixed messages on this one.  The overall sentiment is very nice and all, the whole chorus talking about how you’re still in love with the lady who’s waiting back home for you.  But then you’re talking about all this temptation around every turn while you’re out with your friends, and THEN you’re talking to some hot little number and telling her that she’s really hot and she’s doin’ stuff to you, that she’s so attractive she can make blind men see. . .

Look, Stage Dolls, I know your point is that you’ve got all these pretty ladies throwing themselves at you and you want to be honest with them and tell them that you can’t promise that you’re going to. . .WHATEVER you’re supposed to be promising them. . .and I’m sure for the girls that you’re singing this to, it just makes you that much more attractive. . .ohhhhhhh.  I get it now.  There’s no lady waiting back home for you, is there?  This whole song is one giant ruse to make it seem like you’re trying so hard to be good because of your lady friend in some undisclosed location, which just makes you that much more desirable.  Well played, Stage Dolls.

But if I’m wrong, and you really do have a girlfriend back home, I guarantee that no matter how many times you sing “I’m in love, still in love”, all she’s going to hear is “Temptations drivin’ me insane” and “Hey, little girl, look whatcha do to me”.  Just keep that in mind if you’re thinking this song is going to be your trump card if you ever get in a fight with her, ’cause all this song is going to do is send you straight to the doghouse.
