Oh, Babyface, I know I’ve been complaining all week about these slow songs, but it ain’t the same when that slow, sweet jam is coming from you. Â Not only is this the last song on this tape, but it’s a “pure song”, AND it’s a ridiculously good song as well. Â Since I’m the whitest man in America, I had to look up what “whip appeal” actually meant, and I’m proud to say that I actually kinda guessed it. Â Now that I know what the actual name of the song is, that is. Â When I was a kid, I wrote “Keep On Working On Me” on the tape cover, so clearly I had no idea what whip appeal meant. Â If you would have explained it to me, I would have understood it immediately. Â Being a high schooler full of hormones, pretty much every female who walked past me had whip appeal. Â And had I been able to sing the way you do, Babyface, I would have been serenading every single one of those girls. Â As it was, I just stared creepily. Â So in a way, I had whip appeal as well, in that every girl walking past me would do a double take and think to themselves “Is that guy with the mullet and the giant glasses and the teeth issues and the zits staring at me? Â I really hope not.” Â Which I’m guessing is not what you were going for here.
“Whip Appeal”
Somebody told me
There’d be trouble at home
‘Cause we never talk a lot
When we spend time alone
Hey
So how are we supposed ta know
Know when somethin’ is wrong
Well, we’ve got a right to communicate
It keeps a happy home
And nooooo one
Does it like me
And no one butchoo
Has that kind’a whip appeal on meee
Keep on whippin’ on me
Work it on me
Whip all ya sweet, sad lovin’ on meeee
When we go to work
How the day seems so long
The only thing I think about
Can’t wait ’til we get home
‘Cause weeee got a way of talkin’
And it’s better than words
It’s the strangest kind’a relationship, oh, but with us it always works, and nooooo one
Does it like me
And no one butchoo
Has that kind’a whip appeal on meeee
Whatever you want (whatever you want, baby)
It’s all right with me (s’all right with me)
‘Cause you’ve got that whip appeal (whoa)
So work it on me (yeah)
It’s better than loooooove
Sweet as can be
You’ve got that whip appeal
So whip it on me, babe
Keep on whippin’ on me
Work it on me, yeah
Whip all your sweet, sad lovin’ on me
Keep on whippin’ on meeee
Work it on me
Whip all your sweet, sad lovin’ on me
Ohhhhh, ’cause nooooo one

Sweet as can be (sweet as can be)
You’ve got that whip appeal (ohh, you got)
Ohhh, you got
Ohhh, you got it, you got it, you got it, you got it
Ohhh, we gonna have a real good time
Just you and me, baby
You got a good way of talkin’, baby
Better
Than words
Oh, givin’ up those words
Oh, no one is gonna take it from me
No way

Noooooooono way
Whatever you want (ever you want)
It’s all right with me (s’all right with me)
‘Cause you’ve got that whip appeal (you’ve got that whip appeal)
