Oh, Timbuk3, I was so excited when I heard about you because you were the first band where I felt like I was in on the joke. Timbuk3 instead of TimbukTU. Hahahaha! I get it! And of course this song was great, too. I grew up a bookworm, and I love me some words, and I love it when people do clever things with words and you had both a clever name and song with a clever title. It’s actually kind of surprising that I didn’t gravitate more towards country music, Timbuk3, because while there a few bands like you and “Weird Al” Yankovic who enjoyed playing and punning around with words, country music had all kinds of songs that had clever wordplay like George Strait singing about how he’s got some oceanfront property in Arizona or David Ball singing about his “thinkin’ problem”. But the thing about country was its limited scope in subject matter. Doubtful that you’re going to hear Merle Haggard singing about studying nuclear science. I don’t know exactly who your audience was, Timbuk3, but I was one of them, whatever that means.
