Oh, Sheila E., it’s my wedding anniversary today, and all I can say is that I’m really glad that my wife didn’t decide to lead the glamorous life.  She’s absolutely covered in furs, but they’re of the cat and dog variety and are on ALL her clothes (which year has a lint roller as the traditional gift?).  And while it is true I’ve lost a little weight this year, seeing me walk around in my underwear is more something she’s subjected to rather than lucky enough to see.  I’m OCD, both with this blog, plus my Spider-Man comic books and I’ve also just jumped into the world of making a family tree, which is very quickly becoming an all-consuming obsession.  So I’m not really what you’d call “a catch”, unless you’re comparing it to catching a cold or the flu.  But for whatever reason, she’s decided to throw in with me rather than with the kind of guy who could comfortably hang out in the “if you have to ask you can’t afford it” lingerie section.  So yeah, you’re right, Sheila E., love is glamorous, and I lead a pretty glamorous life.
“The Glamorous Life”
<awesome Sheila E. jam>
She wears a long fur coat of mink
Even in the summer time
Everybody knows from the coy little wink
The girl’s got a lot on her mind
She’s got
Big thoughts
Big dreams, and a big brown Mercedes sedan
What I think this girl
She really wants
Is to be in love with a man
She wants to lead
The glamorous life
She don’t need
A man’s touch
She wants to lead
The glamorous life
Without love
It ain’t much
<awesome Sheila E. jam>
She saw him standing in the section marked
“If you have to ask you can’t afford it” lingerie
She threw him bread and said make me scream
In the dark what could he say
Boys with small talk
And small minds
Really don’t impress me in bed
She said “I need a man’s man, baby
Diamonds and furs
Love would only conquer my head”
She wants to lead
The glamorous life
She don’t need
A man’s touch
She wants to lead
The glamorous life
Without love
It ain’t much
<awesome Sheila E. jam>
They made haste in the brown sedan
They drove to 55
Secret Street
They made love
And by the seventh wave
She knew she had a problem
She thought
Real love
Is real scary
Money only pays the rent
Love is forever, that’s all ya life
Love is heaven-sent
It’s glamorous
Lead
The glamorous life
She don’t need
A man’s touch
She wants to lead
