Radio 84, side A, track 11: “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” by The Beatles

The Beatles - Ob-la-di ob-la-daOh, The Beatles, for the longest time, I didn’t know this was by you.  The only version I knew was the one from the opening to “Life Goes On”.  Which I’d like to watch again, as much to beg forgiveness as anything else.  I’m not proud of it, but when “Life Goes On” was a hit, my classmates and I did impressions of Corky that were unforgivable.  I remember we even had one of those motivational speakers come to our school and he was talking about how Chris Burke was one of his heroes and everyone started laughing.  It’s pretty appalling, The Beatles.  I don’t even know what I’d do now if I had a kid and found out he was pulling that kind of shit.  Unacceptable.  The only silver lining in all of this is that I think this means that maybe I’ve become a slightly better person since then, plus I always recognize Bill Smitrovich when he shows up on something.
