Oh, Crowded House, this is one of those songs that just makes you happy that there’s music in the world. Not surprisingly, it’s also about love. And it’s one of those songs about love that makes you really believe in its power and the hope that you’ll get to feel about someone the way you feel about this song. And it really sums up what it’s like to be infatuated as a young teenager going through all the emotions of being in love and still learning what all those emotions mean. Hell, who am I kidding, I’ve never figured out what those emotions mean. But I’ll tell ya, Crowded House, I’ve experienced all the stuff you’re singing about: the weeping, the cowering, the feelings of jealousy that are as powerful as a gold rush to a Forty-Niner, and of course that feeling that you’ve been given new life because you’ve met just the right person. Sometimes all within a five-minute period. So kudos to you, Crowded House, for covering so much ground in less than 3 minutes and for sounding amazing while you’re doing it.
