Radio 58, side B, track 9: “Forever” by KISS

Oh, KISS, I thought this song was great when I heard it on the radio.  And I still think it’s great.  I just have to pretend that it wasn’t you guys who sang it.  I don’t know what you guys were thinking, but just like the last song I heard by you (which was actually the first song I ever heard by you), it’s hard to listen to this one without knowing the context that you guys were performing this album sans your trademark makeup.  If I didn’t know that it was you singing this, you’d be this local bar band that I’d be super excited to hear that you made it big.  But that’s not who you were.  You were KISS, for goodness sake!  What’s with all this sensitive bullshit.  I mean, I like sensitive bullshit.  Love it, in fact.  But not from y’all.  And yet, for the first 15 years of my life, I thought KISS was a band known for their emotional love ballads.  Think about that for a moment, KISS.  While you do, I’m going to listen to this song again.
