Radio XXXVI, side B, track 7: “Holding Out” by Peter Cetera

Peter CeteraOh, Peter Cetera, have you ever thought of changing the pronunciation of your last name, shortening your first name and going by Pet Cetera?  Just think about it, Peter Cetera.  If you could get people using it in everyday conversation, do you know how many more albums we could sell?  For example, “I’ve got to run to the grocery store, pick up my cat’s prescriptions, Pet Cetera, Pet Cetera. . .”  Although maybe it would be even cooler if we could find a way to get “Peter Cetera” to supplant “et cetera”.  How awesome would it be if people started saying stuff like “So then we went out to dinner, came home, put the kids to bed, watched some ‘Bold and the Beautiful’, Peter Cetera, Peter Cetera.”  I’m tellin’ you, Peter Cetera, you’re sitting on a goldmine with that name of yours.  Oh, sure, you have one of the most unique singing voices in the world, and I absolutely love it and wish like hell I could emulate it, but since you’ve already cornered the music market, why not corner the linguistic market as well?  We could get your name added to the dictionary, have it featured on some hip new show, get an interview on NPR, Peter Cetera, Peter Cetera.  . .

See how easy it is?  You’ve got a Twitter feed, I’ve got a Twitter feed, let’s make this happen!

[…] Having so many brothers and sisters meant that there was pretty much a generation gap just among siblings.  I think there was like a 30-year gap between my oldest aunt and my youngest aunt.  And my youngest aunt happened to be a senior in high school when I was just starting to go to school and even rode the bus home with me a few times.  All of this meaning that some of my aunts were listening to your stuff when it was brand new, Boston, and so I was exposed to guys like you and bands with names like the Bay City Rollers and KISS and Peter Cetera, Peter Cetera.
