Oh, Van Halen, I thought the name of this song was “Higher and Higher”. Come on, you’ve gotta admit, that makes way more sense than “Dreams”. I mean, the way Sammy nails “higher and higher” during the chorus, how could you not think that’s what the title of this song was? Sure, you guys have performed some songs that don’t have a straight-up rock ‘n roll message of partying and rockin’, but honestly, would you expect anyone to believe that you sang a song called “Dreams”? I mean, that sounds like the title to a Broadway melody. But whatever, Van Halen, let’s put my confusion aside, because regardless of the title, this song is wicked good and what is UP with that crazy guitar solo? It’s like an octopus was playing that, not some mere human with only two hands. You guys are so great, Van Halen, and one thing I’ve appreciated about revisiting these tapes is that I’ve grown to re-appreciate you.
Also, I just found out that this song was featured on the soundtrack for “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie”. Now THAT’S what dreams are made of.
